Paintings of Spain 1984
Living in the high Sierra's of Spain for a year contributed to my color palette. These few paintings are the remainder from a cache of 50 portraits of the residents in the small village of Bubion. These villagers are agrarian, hard working, solid built with ancient characteristics combining European and North African features. I bought 50 sheets of 30 x 40 inch paper from a traveler from Holland and requested my paint brushes and oil pastels from my storage in the US, then supplemented with paints from the local art store about an hour from the village. After living in Bubion for a 10 months, the entire set was exhibited in 1984 at the International Monetary Fund and just about sold out.
